ABOUT Yumiao 鱼米奥
My name is Yumiao 鱼米奥, a British shorthair boy born on November 21st, 2018. I remember clearly that the day after Valentine's Day, my new mommy Mavey Yu brought me home and gave me the whole world! I got great food, yummy snacks, and countless toys. Whenever mommy comes home, I'm always there to welcome her back and show her how much I've missed her. My favourite thing is to sit on mommy's lap and lick popsicles, the best snack ever. Honestly, I also really enjoy taking bath with mommy. I think the other cats who hate it are just being dramatic :p.
We had such a great time together, until one morning I had an accident on her bed. Mommy put me on the fully sealed balcony for half an hour as punishment. I cried and begged, but I didn't really understand how I lost control. Mommy thought I was just being naughty but the same thing happened again the next morning. Mommy sensed immediately that something was wrong. This started a series of doctor visits. I took some bitter pills and underwent a desex surgery. In the end, I was diagnosed with Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP) and the doctor recommended to put me down as many cats couldn't make it. Mommy just could not do it. She wanted to spend more time with me and I wanted the same. We went home together and mommy fed me my favorite food, but I could barely eat.
On April 23, 2019, mommy watched me falling asleep one last time. Since then, mommy Mavey dedicated her time to learn about FIP and stress reactions. She was inspired to start a cat cafe in my name Yumiao to bring cat lovers together to support the cat community in Australia.
